He has developed the curriculum for numerous workshops and has led the following: Fundraising 101, Introduction to Strategic Planning, Building an Effective Board of Directors, Winning Effective Campaigns and Introduction to Facilitation.
  • Project Manager: When a non-profit needs help getting something done, Ron is able to meet many needs, including the development of a strategic plan or fund development plan, grant writing, conference planning and research.

Ron founded the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition and served as its first Executive Director, growing the organization from an idea into a 1,000 member organization with a $125,000 budget. The Bike Coalition continues to thrive four years after he left as Executive Director.

For three years, Ron lived in New York City where he began working on a broader set of community development issues with the Enterprise Community Partners (raising $1.8 million as their Senior Development Specialist). In New York, he started his consulting practice, leading a campaign for Transportation Alternatives, raising over $600,000 for Future Leaders Institute Charter School in Harlem and creating a fund development plan for the Audubon Partnership for Economic Development. Before launching the Bike Coalition, Ron taught bicycle safety for the Los Angeles Unified School system and also worked on transportation policy issues for the Surface Transportation Policy Project.

Ron has served on two Boards of Directors: Sustainable South Bronx (a local environmental organization in New York) and the Thunderhead Alliance (a national organization of state and local bike advocacy organizations). He has participated in two leadership programs: Coro's Leadership New York and the Southern California Leadership Network's Leadership Southern California. He also launched and currently manages a donor-advised fund at the California Community Foundation. Ron holds a B.S. in Planning, Public Policy and Management from the University of Oregon.
