Instructor's Bio:
Coming to Alaska in the early 1970's, Ms. Adams was recruited to help a newly established conservation organization with their fundraising efforts.

"Membership development, special events, and even major donor fundraising, all came easy to me - it was instinctual and felt natural. Where I was less successful, was in grants development. I did get proposals funded - now and then - but it was more luck then skill."

After getting her other fundraising skills polished, Ms. Adams decided to focus on the area that was giving her the most trouble - grant writing. Over the next five or so years, she served on Foundation review boards, corporate giving committees, worked with state and borough government to help define their giving, and spent time studying and learning from the most compelling request submitted.

After serving as a development director for various nonprofits Ms. Adams designed and launched the Economic Development Center at the Fairbanks North Star Borough. This Center worked with individuals (artists, entrepreneurs), nonprofit organizations, and businesses to help stimulate the economy in the region.

Ms. Adams left the EDC to start her own business, the Alaska Funding Exchange in 1991. After 10-years of working with nonprofits throughout Alaska, Ms. Adams launched yet another business, GrantStation.com, Inc. in 1999.
