How To Start A Nonprofit Organization

Course Description:
This introductory seminar explores the advantages and disadvantages of becoming a nonprofit corporation.  Topics include defining the community need and fundraising potential for the organization, structural considerations, legal formalities and tax requirements.  The steps necessary for incorporation and the tax-exemption process will be included.  During this session, participants may present their ideas to the group for discussion.

Instructor's bio:
William M. Ramseyer is an attorney who specializes in nonprofit organizations. He represents a wide variety of nonprofit organizations in various aspects of their operations. He taught nonprofit law at UCLA for many years, and he has conducted numerous seminars and consulting projects for the Center. He advised the California Continuing Education of the Bar on bylaws for California nonprofit corporations and is one of the originators of the concept of legal audits. He can also help with incorporation and bylaws.
