Course Description: This session will provide participants with a strong foundation for serving as an executive director of a nonprofit organization. The session will provide an overview of essential management concepts as well as practical advice to the issues faced by participants. The session will cover from the executive director perspective, board development, fundraising strategy, strategic planning, financial management and organizational development and systems.
Instructor's Bio: Patty Oertel is the President of The Oertel Group, a management consulting firm specializing in strategic planning, fundraising strategy, and board development for nonprofit organizations. She served as the Executive Director of the Center for Nonprofit Management for seven years and for the previous ten years as the Center's Associate Director developing its information, education and consulting services. Patty holds her MBA from and has taught on the faculty of UCLA's Anderson Graduate School of Management. She also served as the Administrative Director of the Nonprofit Management Association.
