Course Description
This seminar will examine the legal, technical, and strategic implications of your website in general, and online fundraising in particular.  We'll include:
* General rules of solicitation and requirements for fundraising in California, and how they affect your online presence
* The impact of generating marketing revenue as it relates to Private Inurement and Unrelated Business Income Tax (UBIT)
* Sales tax considerations
* Many other legal issues affecting nonprofits' use of the Internet
* How to create an effective privacy and security policy, for free
* How to incorporate the latest security and other important technology into your website

Instructor's Bio

Kent Seton, Esq. is a Los Angeles based attorney who co-founded the Center for Non Profit Creation, as a separate entity, exclusive from his law firm, to dedicate its efforts to forming and assisting non profits nationwide. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Southern California and his J.D. degree from the Loyola Law School. Mr. Seton has created one of the largest companies nationwide in CNPC which specializes in the formation and maintenance of tax exempt organizations. In addition, to his many job responsibilities; Mr. Seton has spoken at numerous conferences across the country in this area.

 

Allan Pressel is founder and CEO of CharityFinders, which helps nonprofits use the Internet to further their mission.  CharityFinders' main product is NonprofitSite123, technology that enables a nonprofit to build its own website quickly and easily.  CharityFinders also offers Internet strategy consulting services and custom web development to nonprofits.  Previously, Allan was a co-founder of i-Cube, which helped large corporations develop an IT/Internet strategy and implement it through software/web development and consulting services and was a technology strategy consultant at Arthur Anderson and First Consulting Group.  Allan has been designated as one of the world's leading ePhilanthropy experts by the ePhilanthropy Foundation.
