Course Description
Are you afraid that a seminar on auditing standards will be dry, hard to understand or just plain boring? Fear not, this half-day session will be entertaining and chock full of useful information about new Statements on Auditing Standards. In part one, we will look at SAS 104-111, the eight new auditing standards that significantly affect the way audits are conducted by your outside auditors. The seminar will help you understand What are SASs 104-111; Who introduced them; Why they were introduced; When they come into effect; How they will affect your audit. We will also look at what your auditor might be doing to minimize the "unwanted" effects of SAS 104-111 (more work, costs, etc.) while still complying with the standards and reaping the expected benefits of SAS 104-111 (keep costs down). In part two, we will look at SAS 112, which mandates a more structured approach for evaluating deficiencies in internal controls identified during the audit. We will cover the definitions and rules of SAS 112, with examples. You need to understand the new rules so that you can educate your audit committee and prepare for your next audit. The goal is greater understanding, which will hopefully lead to greater peace.
