Course Description
In this workshop, you will learn what needs to be in place to weather almost all circumstances, how to create and maintain a disciplined and systematic fundraising program, how to ask for money in person and how to find new donors. This one day intensive will be interactive and informative, including how to find and solicit major gifts, how to raise large amounts of money in short intense spurts, and how to build a fundraising team to help you. Based on Kim Klein's forthcoming book, Reliable Fundraising in Unreliable Times, this session is designed for organizations with budgets under $3 million engaged in community organizing, social service, advocacy and social change. Kim believes that this economic meltdown needs to be understood as the 'new normal.' Fundraising programs must be flexible and able to take advantage of rapid changes, and she will show you how. By the end of the day, you will: - Know the four basic principles around which you must structure your fundraising
- Have increased confidence in asking for money in person, and know who to ask
- Have a plan you can begin to implement immediately
