Course Description
This seminar will provide an overview of the different types of volunteer groups that can be developed to enhance your organization. The focus will be on identifying and nurturing volunteer leadership; developing critical volunteer groups to meet the need for organizational growth in the program and fundraising area;, planning strategies to manage these groups; and maximizing communication between the auxiliaries, the board and the staff. Participants will learn effective ways to enhance their organizations and strengthen their “family” of supporters and donors while creating win/win opportunities for Board and volunteers.

Instructor's Bio
Janet Schulman is an independent consultant in the nonprofit sector with more than 25 years of experience as the Executive Director of Big Sisters of Los Angeles and Special Olympics Southern California. She holds an M.S.W degree from Boston University and an M.B.A from UCLA. Janet has provided leadership in the areas of board development and training, organizational development, volunteer management, resource development and strategic planning to a wide variety of community-based organizations. She also has served as an Interim Executive Director to Agencies in transition.
