Instructor: Regina Birdsell

Course Description

As you know, now, more than ever, board members are challenged to make tough decisions on behalf of the organizations they support.  In this session, you will learn some of the secrets to success for high performing boards, even in challenging times. We will cover not only the pivotal role your board plays in helping to strategically direct your operations, but to also be a crucial support system for fundraising and building relationships.  We encourage you to attend this session with your board chair.

The session will include a review of the basic responsibilities of a board member of a nonprofit enterprise operating in California and an update on federal efforts underway concerning nonprofit governance, accountability, and transparency for tax exempt organizations.  Through this, we hope to provide you with practical strategies to enhance the effectiveness of your board and your role in engaging it.
