Course Description
3 Day Series: September 27th, October 4th, & October 11th from 9:30am to 3:30pm

This 3 day series is filled with “how-to” instruction, grant proposal samples, and classroom exercises that build skills to demystify proposal writing. Suitable for new and intermediate grantwriters, topics include: preparing yourself to be a successful proposal writer, outlining the basics of proposal development, writing the key components of a proposal, positioning your organization to be successful in the grantsmanship arena, strategizing and developing a competitive proposal, and researching funding sources that are the best fit for your mission and program. Learn to think like a program officer and write to your audience. You will also receive information about individual foundations and corporate funders that may be suitable for your service interest. There will be homework between sessions.

Pre-requisite: Attendance at The Basics of Grantseeking or comparable experience.

Instructor's Bio
Belinda Madrid Teitel, Vice President, Continuing Education & Leadership Development at the Center for Nonprofit Management, has over 18 years of experience working with nonprofits and funders. For the last 11 years, Ms. Teitel has been a capacity building consultant and trainer on a range of topics including fundraising from individuals, grantwriting, strategic planning, and board development. She has taught this indepth series on grantsmanship for the Center for Nonprofit Management and Flintridge Foundation in Pasadena. Ms. Teitel has also worked in banking and the governmental sector, and she brings this experience and expertise to the capacity-building work she does with nonprofit leaders.
