Instructor: Peggy Sheridan Course Description This seminar will be an introduction to social media and its use as a marketing tool for nonprofit organizations. The seminar will begin with an overview of social media -- what it is, how it has grown, and why it is changing the way consumers gather information and make decisions. Participants will then learn why social media is an important branding and marketing tool for nonprofits. The final hour of the seminar will be focused on implementation. There will be a discussion of how to evaluate the appropriateness of the different social media options for your organization plus the steps to add social media to a marketing plan.
Instructor Bio Margaret Sheridan has been a marketing professional for over 15 years. She started her career as the manager of a food program for the elderly in a Salvation Army in New Jersey. She subsequently worked as a marketing manager for several major corporations. Ms. Sheridan has a BS in Community Service Education from Cornell University, a MS degree in Health Policy & Management from the Harvard School of Public Health, and an MBA from Stanford University.
