Course Description Using a FileMaker Pro database for your organization but need to make minor changes to it to keep it relevant? This class will provide you the basics which will allow you to confidently make those changes yourself. Students are encouraged to bring a copy of their database and questions/needs. Time-permitting we will review your need in class and discuss how to address it. Specifically the course will cover the following areas: Database 101: Tables, fields and relationships Tables, Fields and Relationships in FileMaker Pro Files FileMaker Layouts Creation and Modification FileMaker Value Lists Basic FileMaker Automation via Buttons and Scripts Review of Students' FileMaker Challenges Recommended for anyone who uses a FileMaker Pro database and needs to make minor layout and/or field changes/additions. Instructor's Bio Mr. Slater is the founder of HSE, a boutique information technology consulting firm providing a range of services including IT systems selections services, IT project management, technical writing and interim management. One of HSE’s specialties is FileMaker Pro development, and Mr. Slater is a Certified FileMaker Pro developer in FileMaker version 8, 9 10 and 11. He has experience in Fortune 500 firms, early stage ventures and currently acts as an independent consultant. Over his 25 year career Mr. Slater has gained diverse industry knowledge, including non-profit, electronics, healthcare, medical devices, and food & beverage. Mr. Slater brings a rigorous technical and analytical approach to business situations combined with a recognition of the human element to achieve organizational results and “get stuff done.”
