Course Description
Join funders as they share the latest best practices, as well as concrete steps and suggestions to increase your organization’s competiveness in a these hyper-competitive times when there are many more requests than funders can award. This Meet the Funders will include guided round-table discussion with the funders where you can ask questions, learn more than what’s on their website, and gain insight into submitting a winning request.

 

Panelists

Wendy Chang has over 20 years of nonprofit and foundation experience.  Prior to her current position as Director of the Dwight Stuart Youth Fund, she was the Executive Management Academy Director at the Whitecap Foundation; the Director of Training and Advancement for the Public Corporation for the Arts; and Special Projects/Membership Director for the California Association of Nonprofits.

Dorothy Fleisher is a Program Director with the W. M. Keck Foundation’s Southern California Program, where her primary responsibility is overseeing grantmaking in the areas of arts and cultural, civic and community services, health care, precollegiate education, and early childhood development. She has been with the Foundation since 1999.  Prior to joining the Foundation, Dr. Fleisher worked for United Way for fourteen years.

Gabriela (Gabby) Tovar is the Manager of Grants and Programs for the LA84 Foundation. Gabby oversees a team of program officers responsible for recommending over four million dollars annually in grant awards to non-profit community based organizations that serve youth through sport. Since its inception, the Foundation has invested $171 million in sports programs serving more than two million youth in eight of the Southern California Counties.

Julio Marcial is a Program Director at The California Wellness Foundation (TCWF), responsible for grantmaking on the issues of adolescent health, violence prevention and youth development. Since 2008, Marcial has made more than $25 million in grant recommendations to approximately 150 community-based organizations working in California.  He joined the Foundation in July 1998.
